Experiments can be annotated by tags, which can serve as bookmarks, as favorite assignments, or as remainders for pending analytic results. When assigned, these tags appear in the experiments tree of the Experiments section:

To tag an experiment, just right click its entry in the experiment tree and then select the desired tag item in the appearing context menu. Re-selecting the same tag of the same experiment removes it again.

All tags of a project can be removed at once via the project context menu:

Following tags currently are available:

  • Bookmark: This sets a general bookmark, e.g. as a reminder re-visit the marked experiments. Any number of finalized as well as unfinalized experiments can be marked.
  • Favorite: This marks the currently best experiment of a specific step (conversion). To assist maintaining just one favorite tag per synthetic step within a project, Espresso ELN automatically removes the previous favorite tags of the same step before assigning a new one. This behavior can be modified in the settings (Home > Settings > 'Use only one favorite tag per step' checkbox), to allow multiple favorite tags per step.
  • Analytics Pending: This is a reminder that some analytics data are pending for the marked experiment. When trying to finalize an experiment with this tag set, the user is prompted to confirm the attempt to finalize the experiment despite the missing analytics. If confirmed, the Analytics Pending tag is removed after the experiment is finalized.
