ChemProject supports material amount specifications in absolute as well as in relative units (equivalents).


Absolute Units

Following material weight and volume units are supported:


kg, g, mg

solid units


l, ml, ul

liquid units

also: L, mL, uL (=microliters)


Equivalents

Materials also can be specified in units relative to the reactant, i.e. as equivalents. 

Following equivalent units are supported:


eq

[mol / mol reactant]

reagent equivalents

vq

[liters solvent / kg reactant]

volume equivalents

mq

[liters solvent / mol reactant]

molar solvent equivalents

wq

[kg material / kg reactant]

weight equivalents


A complete step may be specified in equivalent units. If the reactant is specified as equivalent, all other step materials also must be specified in equivalents. Also, the reactant cannot be specified in vq, mq or wq units.
